A TiO_2 film and a Fe-doped TiO_2 film were prepared by an electrochemical anodic oxidation method. The effect of Fe on the surface morphology and crystalline structure of the doped film was investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. Electrode potential and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements were performed to study the protection effect of the film on stainless steel. When 304 stainless steel in a 0.5 M NaCl solution was coupled to the Fe-doped TiO_2 film photoanode under illumination, its potential decreased by 450 mV, showing a good photocathodic protection effect. EIS measurements revealed that the charge transfer resistance of the steel coupled to the photoanode decreased considerably.
