Using Flight Information to Improve Weather Avoidance Predictions

This study examines the impact of non-meteorological information on the probability of weather avoidance. We build on previous research, which resulted in the development of predictive weather avoidance models with a Weather Avoidance Field based on meteorological data. Our study expands prior research by assessing the impact of flight characteristics such as airframe type, operator type, flight phase, and departure and arrival facilities, as well as actual weather avoidance behavior, to determine the probability of future avoidance.
