This paper presents the results of an ongoing study of the seismic behavior of the Scotch Road integral abutment bridge. A three-dimensional finite element model of the bridge superstructure and substructure was modeled using the finite element software SAP2000. The model was subjected to dynamic vehicular live load and to earthquake loading. El Centro earthquake record was used as the dynamic loading with a PGA of 0.27g. The results from the three-dimensional model were compared to analytical data and experimental data developed by Dehne and Hassiotis (2003). The results developed by our model compare very favorably with the data found in the referenced paper which indicates that our numerical model is accurate. Moreover, the dynamic response of the bridge under earthquake loading was studied. The results showed that the bridge is behaving integrally as expected.
