Multi-physics modeling of the dynamic response of a circuit breaker recloser system

摘要

This paper introduces the development of an analytical mathematical model to describe the fast dynamic response of the opening and closing mechanism of a power line recloser switch. The model is then used to simulate and evaluate the transient mechanical and electromagnetic performance during the opening and closing movements of the recloser. The simulated results are validated by measurements on an actual recloser while it operates. This model can be used to optimize the recloser design and reduce the manufacturing cost, instead of using a time-consuming Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
