Mangroves are salt tolerant halophytes thrive in intertidal regions of tropical and subtropical coastlines. Field spectroscopy adds additional information to classification techniques and enhances accuracy. Members of Rhizophoraceae mangrove family are dominant in Indian coastlines. Spectral signatures collected from six species of Rhizophoraceae were tested by parametric statistical test to find spectral separabilty among species. Results show that spectral seperability among species is good in SWIR 2 region (1961–2350nm) and NIR region (700–1100nm). Results from pair wised Bonfferoni test depict that C. decandra is separable from B. parviflora, K. candel and R. mucronata in all wavelengths but poorly separable with B.sexangula.
