Deployment of a network of weekly Whole Air Samplers (WAS) and a mobile measurement platform to monitor changes in ambient air quality due to increased oil and gas activity in City and County of Broomfield

The concentrations of VOCs in weekly canisters were similar to those observed in background ambient concentrations in the surrounding area. Benzene concentration ranges were 0.1-0.4 ppbv in the area, which were consistent with those measured in Fort Collins, CO during a previous study. Methane concentrations from the mobile platform were also similar to background concentrations in the area ranging from 1.8-2.2 ppmv. We expect the concentrations of methane and VOCs to change during the different stages of oil and gas extraction and as part of the local meteorology in the surrounding area.
