Browns Ferry Operators Respond to Significant Natural Disaster - A Personal Perspective

On April 27th, 2011, an unprecedented severe weather outbreak including numerous tornadoes resulted in extensive damage to the electrical grid that supplied off-site power to Browns Ferry Nuclear (BFN) Plant. This resulted in the automatic shutdown of all three BFN reactors. As a result of their training, the Operators were well prepared to respond to the simultaneous automatic shutdown of all three units.
