Study on Distribution of Soil pH in Urban Area of Beijing Using GIS Technology

摘要

pH is one of the pretty important properties of surface soil. In this paper, GIS technology was used to analyze the pH data from thirty one sample plots in Beijing. The analyzing result shows the distribution character of surface soil pH in urban area of Beijing. The whole area can be divided into three sub-areas: the North part, the Middle part, and the South part, which is clearly showed in the pH isoline map. Soil pH of the Middle area is the highest, while that of the other two parts is obviously lower. Furthermore, we overlaid the isoline map with the Parent material Acidity map and the Physiognomy map. It is proved that surface soil pH of Beijing urban area is normal in a long term. However, soil acidification in Beijing is liable to happen. Some suggestion should be proposed against the potential problem.
