In India, present Energy supply systems has low sharing of renewable energy. To achieve higher renewable energy (RE) shares than typically found in present energy supply systems will require additional integration efforts. These include improved understanding of the RE resource characteristics and availability, investments in enabling infrastructure and research, development and demonstrations (RD and D), modifications to institutional and governance frameworks, innovative thinking, attention to social aspects, markets and planning, and capacity building in anticipation of RE growth. In Maharashtra State of India, Renewable Energy potential exists on large scale. If such Renewable Energy sources are integrated, energy shortfall can be met. The fossil energy sources in Maharashtra state of India has been depleting and short fall in centralized energy generation is growing day by day with increase in energy demand and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has to carry out heavy forced load shedding. Renewable energy sector growth in India during last five years has been significant. Government of Maharashtra has put all the efforts to encourage the public sectors for Renewable Energy generation. This paper depicts the potential of Renewable Energy sources in Maharashtra State of India and suggests integration of such sources with deployment of microgrid to make Rural Maharashtra free from forced load shedding.
