Co-simulation can greatly improve the simulation accuracy by integrating advantages of different software in a unified system. In this paper, co-simulation of energy management strategy for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is implemented through the secondary development in AVL InMotion system. Firstly, the models of the virtual driver, 3D road and traffic environment are realized in IPG CarMaker. Secondary, the powertrain and transmission system models are completed in AVL Cruise. Then, the energy management strategy based on logic rules for HEV is realized in Matlab/Simulink. At last, co-simulation communication is realized through the designed interface among different softwares. The experimental results indicate that co-simulation is a good way to implement complex system simulation and the proposed control strategy for HEV is reasonable and effective.
