Crossing The Past in Milan Malpensa Airport: from the archaeological investigation to the exhibition (Varese, Italy)

The paper examines the research methodology and technology used at Milan Malpensa International Airport (Varese, Italy) throughout the construction of the public transportation railway link between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, during which excavation works revealed a necropolis of the Final Bronze Age. The project was carried out through the recording and presentation of the 3D data of the necropolis and the exhibition of the archaeological finds brought to light during the excavations. This research examines the use and potentials of modern digital 3D modelling techniques applied at archaeological heritage to increase research, study and presentation of the archaeological heritage.
