Strain-Elasticity of Popliteal Vein in Pregnancy for Early Diagnosis of Deep Vein Thrombosis

An in vivo assessment of popliteal vein strain-elasticity measurement of pregnant subjects had been carried out. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship of the strain-elasticity of the blood vessel in pregnant subjects with the development of thrombus formation which may lead to deep vein thrombosis condition (DVT). Method applied for the assessment was using the ultrasound scanning since it is noninvasive to the subject and low cost which also cause no traumatic experience to them. The parameters that had been studied included the strain percentage measurement and elasticity of the popliteal vein. Both of the parameters are important to the studies which enable the researcher to understand their relationship to the DVT condition in pregnant women.
