OntoKeeper: Semiotic-driven Ontology Evaluation Tool For Biomedical Ontologists

Evaluation for ontologies is an important phase in ontology engineering. When evaluating ontologies the designer needs to assess validation and verification aspects of the knowledge artifact. Yet, this task is often disregarded, and therefore, tools that accommodate the workflow of the biomedical ontologists are needed. In this paper. we introduce OntoKeeper, a tool we developed that utilizes a semiotic-driven metric proposed by Burton-Jones and colleagues. Overall, OntoKeeper is the first of a few ontology evaluation tools that can help provide ontology evaluation functionality for knowledge engineers.
