This paper presents a frequency reconfigurable monopole antenna with switchable band characteristics from Ultra-wideband (UWB) radiator to band-notched UWB radiator to dual-band radiator by the mean of three p-i-n diode switches. Three p-i-n diodes are employed in the slots on the circular ring and rectangular patch to make the antenna reconfigurable in three radiating modes: UWB radiator (with all diodes in the ON-state), 5.3 GHz band-notched UWB radiator (with D1 and D3 in the ON-state, and D2 in the OFF-state) and dual-band radiator (with D1 in the OFF-state and D2, D3 in the ON-state) are reported. In all modes of the diodes, good agreements between simulated and measured results are observed.
