In this paper, a method is proposed to process the W-band Doppler radar signal to extract the in-bore projectile motion parameters by incorporating time-frequency peak filtering (TFPF) and digital image processing techniques. Here, TFPF is applied as a pre-processing step to reduce noise and a technique of curvilinear structure detection is exploited to extract the time-frequency image ridge. Finally, least square fitting is utilized to fit the optimized time-frequency ridge point set and the motion parameters of the in-bore projectile are extracted. The presented experimental results demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method.
