A FM-UWB transceiver prototype operating in the 7.2 - 7.7GHz band based upon 3 full-custom ICs is presented. Receiver sensitivity is -85dBm for a BER of 10{sup}(-6) at 62.5kbps. A range of 15 meters is demonstrated under LOS conditions. Power consumption of a SoC version is estimated at 5mW for the transmitter and 14mW for the receiver. Subcarrier FDMA multiple access and robustness to narrowband interference are also demonstrated.
