Surface-scattering-induced mode splitting in a rolled-up semiconductor microtube

We report on the experimental demonstration of mode splitting in a rolled-up semiconductor microtube at telecom wavelengths. Surface scattering causes the splitting of degenerate clockwise and counter-clockwise whispering-gallery modes in the microtube.
