This paper presents an experimental comparison of three optical transparency windows of the Earth’s atmosphere along a period of 12 months. Rain, drizzle, fog and haze scattering attenuation were simultaneously measurements in side by side parallel free space optical communication links, operating at 0.78μm, 1.55 μm and 9.1 μm (Near-IR, Mid-IR and Far-IR). Results include a real time measurement of the optical signals received of the three wavelengths links used versus visual range and rainfall acquitted and a comparison with the Carbonneau rain rate relation.
