This article provides an insight into the topic of ad-hoc protocols used for routing, namely proactive and reactive protocols. It depicts the general concept how these protocols can find a path in a network between two nodes and it also presents the evaluation of the methods of tracking the node path in a wireless ad-hoc network through investigating the available mobile routing protocols. The main focus is on the throughput and the average end-to-end delay in a network, using for the simulation OM-NeT++ environment. Three protocols were chosen for the final testing: Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV), Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR), and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR).
