摘要

The objective of this work is to understand the corrosion mechanisms associated tothe influence of the Protic Ionic Liquids (PILs) in contact with AISI 1004 carbon steel.This study aims to study the electrochemical behavior of PILs when in contact withcarbon steel. Comparing different PILs, varying the chain length of the anion andkeeping the 2-hydroxyethylammonium as cation. The steel samples were preparedand placed in contact with each PIL: 2-hydroxyethylammonium acetate (2-HEAA), 2-hydroxyethylammonium pentanoate (2-HEAPe), and 2-hydroxyethylammoniumhexanoate (2-HEAHx), for different immersion times. The electrochemical behavior ofthe samples was characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).The morphological behavior was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Results showed that the steel sample in contact with the PIL 2-HEAA presents theworst electrochemical performance.
