Socializing co-robots: Incorporating users and situated interaction in the design of collaborative robots

In 2003, Rodney Brooks predicted that “by 2020 robots will be pervasive in our lives” (p. 113)[1] his sentiment was later echoed in Bill Gates' statement that we will soon have “robots in every home” [2]. Today, the National Science Foundation supports the development of co-robots that will “work beside, or cooperatively with, people… acting in direct support of and in a symbiotic relationship with human partners” [3].
