Fig. 1 shows the harmonics spectra of FeraSpin™ R (nanoPET Pharma GmbH, Berlin) aqueous and glycerin solutions and of an immobilized reference sample for two different excitation frequencies. As can be seen, the inclusion of higher harmonics components in the analysis provides a better differentiation of the effective viscosity or binding state than what is obtained from the ratio of two harmonic magnitudes. MPS measurements for different effective viscosities show a non-monotonic transition from the harmonics spectra of pure aqueous suspensions to those of the freeze-dried reference sample.
