In the powdered metal industry, particularly the Tungsten Carbide sector, several material properties for quality and process control are used. These include the coercive force, H_(cj) and the saturation magnetism, M_s. These properties are highly influenced by alloying elements, grain structure, nonmagnetic material content, and residual stresses, to name a few.This paper will discuss the role and significance of both measurements and the newest techniques for rapid testing and data management for quality and process control. Application examples from sintered components, results and conclusions will be presented.
