ADAPTATION’S COSTS OF WATER PONDS TO THE NEW TECHNICAL STANDARDS OF SAFETY DEVELOPED BY THE SPANISH MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT

The advanced stage of development of the future new Technical Standards of Safety to which the Title VIIth of the Modification of the Regulation of the Public Hydraulic Domain (Royal Decree 9 / 2008 of 11 January) refers, and that will be applied for both dams and ponds, made necessary to know which is the cost of its application to ponds, due the large number of them in the country: over 60.000. The paper analyzes these costs, taking into account all activities prescribed by the Technical Standards of Safety, considering also the possible number of existing ponds to which they apply and their distribution between individual farmers and Irrigation Communities.
