Based on the manufacturer provided quotes, a review of comparable intakes, and the estimated annual O&M costs, a rotating screen system would have less sustainable characteristics and be much more costly to install and maintain than vertical flat screens or T-screens. The vertical traveling screens also require the following: 1.Tensioning every 2 years, which will require training of O&M staff 2.Purchasing and storage of spare plastic screen components The cost to purchase and maintain vertical flat screens is approximately 50% more than T-screens.
