This paper investigates numerically the existence of band gaps and local resonances of Love waves in a piezoelectric substrate coated with a phononic guiding layer which consists of a thin layer and periodic stubbed pillars. Evolution of the bending and twisting local resonances of the pillars due to changes of the pillar height are demonstrated and discussed. The proposed PC structure makes the fabrication process relatively simple and may serve as reflective gratings in Love wave devices.
