In order to assess the aseismic performance of the suspended zipper braced frames (SZBF), a 10-story chevron braced frame (CBF) and SZBF were designed and analyzed. Note that the seismic responses of the two frames are similar to each other. It is also found that the design method of the zipper columns is conservative, resulting in larger braced column sizes and material waste. So, a more reasonable design method of the zipper column is needed to be provided.
