Nano-sized Zn/Ni deposits on mild steel have been obtained by including certain aliphatic and aromatic additives in the electroplating acidic bath. The corrosion resistance of the coating has been doubled through the addition of saccharin and by the addition of SLES .The electrochemical method and salt chamber have been used to determine the corrosion rate and X-ray diffractometry to determine the type and size of the Zn/Ni phases and the Scanning Electron Microscope to examine the surface morphology. The mechanism of action of the additives has been discussed in the light of crystal size and homogeneity Zn/Ni phases. Keywords: Zn-Ni alloy; nano-crystalline; mechanism, corrosion.
