Among various surface treatment techniques, nickel electroplating has been used for years with ornamental and protection purposes, and it has a large industrial relevance [1-3]. Chromium plate on this nickel deposits can be used to provide better corrosion resistance [1]. In this study single and multilayer, bright, semi bright, dull nickel and chromated nickel plating has been performed to improve the corrosion resistance of iron substrate. Before chromium plating, double layered nickel deposits (dull and bright or semi bright and bright) were applied. The corrosion behaviour of coatings was investigated by polarization and electrochemical impedance measurements at different exposure times. Results suggest that the better corrosion protection can be obtained with semi bright-bright multilayer nickel coatings.
