Development of a Concept for the Temperature-Optimized Heat Production in Solar Active Houses

A new concept of a solar house is presented within this paper. In contrast to existing solar house solutions, the solar heat gains are distributed in a temperature-optimized way to three different heat sinks -a significantly smaller storage tank, concrete floor elements directly fed by the solar circuit and a ground storage which is also the heat source of a heat pump used as the auxiliary heater. This new layout should reduce the today's usual extra system costs of solar houses by about 25%. First system simulations indicate the functionality of the concept and show almost the same solar fractions as in existing solar house concepts. A first parameter study regarding the parameters sensitivity and the proper dimensioning of a thermal activation, which can cover the basic heat load of the solar house, has been implemented. Results show that the desired basic load can be achieved with significantly higher pipe distances which will keep cost effectiveness. The main problem is the inhomogeneous heat flow distribution to ground and upper floor resulting from given positions of the activated concrete elements. Possible solutions are the reduction of the upwards thermal resistance of the upper floor or the enlargement of the thermally activated area.
