An axicon is an element with a linear phase profile. It is known to generate a propagation-invariant field along the optical axis (line focus). Here, we consider a partially illuminated (diffractive) axicon and analyze the generated field. The results may be of relevance, for example, with regard to the implementation of a multichannel rotary joint.
