In order to prevent high-power devices from causing power overloading or impacting normal use of all other devices in the power load terminal, this paper proposed an overload pre-protection system design. This system consists of an electrical detector in series with power trunk line and several load controllers in series with all power branch lines. The electrical detector measures total power of all operating devices, calculates loadable power in the trunk line, and sends the signal to each controller; then load controllers decide whether supply power or not to the standby devices in branch lines to ensure it is not overloaded. Preliminary studies indicate that the system can predict the loadable power of the trunk line and control lager devices in branch lines, protect the trunk line from being cut off, and ensure all operating equipment work safely. As it can adjust power supply automatically, the overload protection system also improves the level of automation and reduces the maintenance workload.
