In this paper, a experimental study is given for estimating the potential of electrical energy saving by using daylight in (ⅰ) inverted v-shape (east-west orientation), and (ⅱ) dome type roof structures, of mud house (a vernacular structure), for New Delhi, India. Experimental data taken from Oct, 2009-Apr, 2010 for inverted v-shape room and from Jan-Feb, 2010, have been collected based on hourly observations of daily illuminance. It has been analyzed for the guidelines of 'National Building Code of India (NBCI) also referred as IS code' and also used to validate daylighting model proposed by Krarti et al. The daylight provisions of a room and dome shapes of mud house have been found in agreement with the both 'guidelines of NBCI' and 'Krarti et al. model'.
