In this work we presented a simple technique to realize electrodes in microfluidic devices. Such electrodes are: i) intrinsically 3D; ii) highly conductive; iii) flexible, thus allowing for the coupling of electrical and mechanical stimulations. The cytocompatibilty of the method was previously assessed [4], and the ability to generate uniform electric fields will be used to stimulate 3D cell-laden microgels [5] for the study of mesenchymal stem cell differentiation toward cardiac tissue.
