A wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of a large number of low-power micro-sensors. The data collected by each sensor is communicated through the network to a single sink node. Data gathering is a key work of the wireless sensor network. To prolong the procedure of data gathering, it's a good way to cluster sensors into groups, so that the sensors first communicate to the cluster headers and the cluster headers transmit the aggregated data to the sink node. In this paper, we proposed a novel uneven clustering scheme (DEUC) to build the wireless sensor network based on the distance from the sink node and residential energy of the sensor. Simulation results show that DEUC effectively balances the energy consumption of cluster heads and prolongs the network lifetime.
