CENTRIFILTERGRAM AND FILTERSONICGRAM MAKER: A NEW TOOL FOR SOLID DEBRIS SEPARATION FROM USED LUBRICANTS AND USED LUBRICATING OIL FILTERS

A new solid debris separation technique has been developed. Preliminary results indicate an ability to separate and classify solid particles from used lubricant and used lubricating filter element samples due to their size ranges. The centrifiltergrams and filtersonicgrams (multi-patch filters) can then be analyzed under an optical microscope or the likes. This technique is at present being tested in the field and it is the field operators who will judge the efficacy of solid debris separation and examination by this technique.
