Critical Factors Affecting Compliance to Campus Alerts

The increasing number of campus related incidents has prompted campuses to develop emergency notification systems to inform them of extreme events.that may affect their safety. Complying with alerts is the key factor to improving safety. In this paper, we investigate the critical antecedents that motivate students to comply with campus emergency notifications. This paper develops a model that was tested based on the data collected from 600 students from a large university in the northeast region of the United States. Results of this research contribute to the IS literature, and to developing policies and strategies to improve compliance to alerts.
