A simple algorithm of 2-D pattern synthesis for cylindrical arrays is introduced in this paper. According to the characteristic of cylindrical array, the whole array can be seen as a linear array whose elements are the identical circular arrays. Therefore, the beam pattern can be obtained by the product of the linear and circular arrays' beam pattern and the synthesis process is decomposed into two individual 1-D pattern syntheses of subarrays to approach the desired sidelobe level. Numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
