The Womersley velocity inlet condition produced the most similar mean WSS and OS1 when compared to the true measured patient-specific velocity profile inlet condition. Therefore the Womersley-determined profiles are recommended for use over the parabolic or blunt velocity profiles when the true velocity profile is not known. However, natural variation in anatomy affected WSS and OSI results more than did choice of inlet velocity profile, as correlation among patients was lower than among inlet conditions.
