摘要

Black carbon (BC) is increasingly drawn attention by scientists and policy maker due to its adverse impact to human health and the climate, especial in regional scale. Black carbon, also called as elemental carbon (EC), refers to the hard core of the participate matters (PM). After breathed into human bodies, black carbon itself and organic carbons adsorbed on it may cause adverse impacts on the human health, such as potential carcinogenesis, causing respiratory disease, premature, heart disease and others. In respect to the impact to the climate, BC is a principle climate forcing after CO_2. It has dual effects: scattering and absorbing solar radiation, accounting for as much as 60% of the global warming effect by CO_2. BC itself is an effective nucleus for the formation of clouds and has the capacity of forming widespread atmospheric brown clouds in a mixture with other aerosols. Through these effects, BC affects urban local climate and the environment.
