摘要

Anaerobic digestion (AD) treatment has been used for over 40 years to treat high strength industrial wastewaters and municipal biosolids. AD technologies are now being used to treat solid food wastes and organics to create energy in combined heat and power systems. Food waste land bans in the Northeast States is one of the drivers. Co-digestion of food waste in municipal digester systems is also evolving. Both wet and dry AD technologies are available for food wastes to energy projects. This presentation will also cover the trends in AD technologies being used and the overall treatment systems used for both pretreatment and for the liquids digestate from the AD system. The talk will also discuss lessons-learned from "case-studies" from different types of industrial wastewater and food waste to energy projects. It will also touch on the following aspects that are critical to a successful project: design basis, treatability testing for concept validation and design development, design and construction and start-up.
