The CIPS technique is carried out as a proposal to find the potentials that are out of the norm NRF-047-PEMEX 2007 and not be detected by monitoring the potentials in a distance of 1000 m, even the norm NACE SP0207-2007 that applies to the procedure in CIPS technique, the ratio CIPS/DCVG depends on the measurements of CIPS. In this work, the study realized by CIPS was carried out in 50 km of pipelines identifying zones of low potential lesser than -850 mV that indicates the fault in the current demand which is higher 79.8 Amperes than the considered in the calculus for the cathodic protection systems of 36 amperes. The results shows that it is necessary to apply the CIS technique in the 64 % of the pipeline because the measurements are not in accordance with the criterion in ON state.
