In view of the requirements and characteristics of the comprehensive treatment of harmonic and reactive power in electrified railway,a novel single-phase hybrid power filter composed of active power filter (APF) and passive filter (PF) is proposed to compensate the harmonic current and the reactive power caused by AC-DC type of electric locomotive in power system. By analyzing the compensation principle, this paper presents a new feedback control strategy to control the output voltage of APF better. Matlab simulation study results illustrate that the HAPF has a good performance in harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation.
