An Improved Method for Fast Image Defogging

Outdoor vision systems often suffer from bad weather conditions such as fog and haze. Most of the defogging algorithms are computational intensive and have adaptability-problem when environment changes. An improved algorithm for fast defogging from a single image is proposed in this paper. It is mainly based on bilateral filter and image degradation model. First this frequently used model in visibility restoration problem is introduced. Then the detailed theory and procedure underlying this algorithm are explained. Finally comparison study shows that this algorithm is more effective, efficient and robust than existing algorithms.
