摘要

In this paper, a new medical segmentation method, which is to extract the contour of brain tumor of MR image, is introduced. It combines both the watershed transform and GVF Snake model. The watershed transform is used to get the initial contour for the GVF Snake model. The marker-controlled watershed transform is used for reducing the problem of oversegmentation. GVF Snake model deforms with the initial contour to capture the tumor edge. This hybrid method has the advantages of solving the problem of watershed over-segmentation and the automatic initialization of GVF Snake model. The method has been applied to brain MR images, and produces good effects.
