The potential of Terrasar-X (TSX) InSAR for theacquisition of high resolution X-band interferogramswith an 11 day time interval has been investigated forthe monitoring of creeping landforms in the alpineperiglacial belt. In order to give a reliable assessment ofInSAR visibility, an index characterizing the velocitycompression is calculated for 30 surveyed landformslike rockglaciers, landslides and debris covered glaciers.Results show that the monitoring of some very activerockglaciers (1-3.5m/y) may be possible when the latterare not hidden by layover or shadow. Moreover,compared to lower resolution data, TSX is well suitableto monitor active landforms. Even if field measurementsare, in most cases, still needed to validate and confirmobservations at local scale, TSX InSAR appears to be anefficient remote sensing method to monitor slopeinstabilities in this environment.
