Snowmelt runoff is one of the most important components in water resources across the source region of the Yellow River, Timing of snowmelt runoff may be influenced greatly by warmer weather. March to May from 1980 to 2006, obtained from passive microwave remote sensing data SSMR and SSM/I, timing of the Center of Mass for Flow(CT) was used as a proxy of timing of snowmelt runoff with daily stream flow of Tangnaihai hydrometric station. The result shows, Snowmelt timing in Yellow river source region occurs almost one month earlier for the 30 years, the timing of snow begin to melt largely come up around 10 days earlier than timing of snowmelt runoff.)
