Influence of inorganic gel on BHCs adsorption distribution in groundwater

Colloid is one of the most important causes influencing organic pollutant migration in water and soil. Based on simulating groundwater environment, the adsorption features of the gelatinous ferric hydroxide to BHCs were studied. The result showed with colloid existing in the groundwater the distribution of BHCs in the colloid phase is more than in the true solution phase, and the distribution of BHCs in the suspended phase is the least one. The model of gelatinous ferric hydroxide adsorption to BHCs presents good linear correlation, which accords with Henry Isothermal adsorption mode; this paper preliminary discuses the mechanism of BHCs adsorption on the gelatinous ferric hydroxide based on determineing ultraviolet spectrum and the changes of colloid size. The results show that BHCs adsorption on colloid is mainly physical adsorption, and the stability will be weakened when the gelatinous ferric hydroxide have adsorbed BHCs.
