Pointing to the limitation of centralized control in building structures, the fully decentralized strategy is proposed for vibration control of structures using MR damper. Based on LQR classical optimal control algorithm and restricted tri-state semi-active control strategy, the centralized and decentralized control effect is compared. Results show the closeness between them. In view of the character of decentralized control system, the concept of integrated algorithm is put forward, that is: some sub-systems are controlled by fuzzy control and others by LQR optimal control, leading to the combination of both the two methods' advantages. Analytical results show that the effect of the integrated algorithm is similar to the LQR optimal control, and moreover, the robustness is enhanced and is therefore more suitable for large-scale engineering.
