This paper suggests a methodology for achieving effective safety training by a diligent analysisof each of the following steps in the safety training life cycle:? Objectives definition (need analysis): understanding why training is needed and whatwould be considered a success. Whenever possible, the objectives should be in terms ofactions the participants need to perform.? Decision if training is the appropriate solution? Decision regarding the instructional approach- i.e.: behaviorist, cognitive orconstructive.? Decision regarding the most appropriate tool for delivering the training.? Development of the training materials.? Delivering the training.? Evaluation of the training effectiveness.? Extraction of the lessons from the evaluation and implementing them in the trainingprogram.
